Start with Blocksmith. Then use the libraries, loaders and docs below when you need them.

Recommended first

Blocksmith

Forge add-ons. Play them. Sell them. Blocksmith is the studio and marketplace we recommend above every other tool on this page: paint custom items, blocks and mobs, export real .mcaddon packs for Bedrock 1.21, and list them for players.

Open Blocksmith

“Accessories” here means everything that is not the base game: player skins, resource packs, data packs, Java mods, Bedrock add-ons, maps and server plugins. For Bedrock add-ons, use Blocksmith first.

Java mods need a loader — Fabric or NeoForge for current versions, Forge for older packs — and a launcher that can isolate instances. Do not mix random .jar files from video descriptions into your main install.
